The What and How of Sabre Equipment
for Capital Fencing Academy's Fencers

Find below some information on how and what to obtain regarding sabre equipment for your fencers. 

New Musketeers – We provide equipment for the first class only. After the first class, fencers will have to provide their own basic mask such as the one here: http://www.blue-gauntlet.com/ BG-3-Weapon-400-NW-fencing- MASK_p_3652.html. We can help your fencer with fitting or see the attached information about fitting. 

 Advanced Musketeers – Fencer must have all “white” equipment, including:

• Mask (We recommend an electric Sabre mask as they are required for next level)

• Jacket (we recommend front zip style to make it easy to get in and out of)

• Pants

• Glove

• Underarm protector

• A practice sabre (size #2 for those under 10 years of age) such at this one:

Please note: You may want to consider sizing up one size larger for your Jacket and Pants as your fencer is growing fast and the equipment is very durable! 

At the bottom of this page is a link to a sizing chart for you to use. Please feel free to ask a coach to check your fencer in their new equipment to make sure the sizing is correct.

Intermediate and above – Fencers must have their own “electric” equipment along with everything stated above. 

• Electric sabre mask (if not purchased for previous class)

• Lame (the size should be one size larger than the Jacket)

• FIE 800N Electric Sabre Glove

• Body Cord

• Mask Cord

• Electric sabre (Size 2 blade for age 10 & under (Y10), size 5 blade for older or those competing in Y12 or above)

• Chest protector (mandatory for girls)

• Fencing bag

If competing, knee high socks and a second set of body cord, mask cord and electric sabre is required. Please ask a coach for details.
