Honor Johnson takes Silver at the Cadet World Cup!

Honor Johnson, the youngest athlete representing Team USA and Capital Fencing Academy at the 2017 European Cadet World Cup sabre fencing tournament held in Konin, Poland,  brought home a silver medal. Honor entered her third cadet international tournament ranked 19th in the world. She went undefeated at 6-0 in the first pool and 3-3 in the second pool in the first day of competition to advance to the table of 64. Based on the pool results, Honor went into the second day of competition ranked 40th, having to defeat higher seeded fencers from Russia, Ukraine and Italy in the direct elimination round before losing by a single touch in the gold medal bout against a fellow American. Bravo!

Marta Lasota takes the Bronze!

Harvard University sophomore and Capital Fencing Academy alumni, Marta Lasota attended the third annual 2017 Absolute International Collegiate Fencing Elite Competition in Wuxi, China. This competition featured 158 fencers from 32 universities in the USA, China, Korea, and Japan. World-renowned schools such as Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, Columbia, and Brown all sent fencers to participate.

What a weekend in Kansas City!!

After winning gold with his CAPITAL teammates at the Junior Olymplic's Junior men's sabre team event on Friday and placing 21st in the Junior (20 and under) individual event on Saturday, Alessandro Contreras wasn't done yet. This afternoon, he took 5th in the Cadet (16 and under) individual event. What an outstanding weekend for Alessandro, his proud papa Felix, CAPITAL coaches Dariusz and Aaron, and all our hardworking, competing CAPITAL fencers! We are so proud of all of you!

CAPITAL Cadets Shine at the European Circuit Cup

Capital fencers Alessandro Contreras and Honor Johnson delivered amazing performances as members of the US team in last week’s European Cadet Cup in Moedling, Austria. More than 370 men and women fencers ages 16 and under represented 27 nations at this highly competitive event. Honor, with focus, commitment, and skill, fenced her way to earn the 8th place medal for the Unites States. Outstanding! Her CAPITAL clubmate Alessandro Contreras battled his way through the men’s challenging field of 173 international fencers to take the 20th spot. He and his dad celebrated by visiting the Louvre in Paris. Nice! Congratulations and BRAVO to Honor and Alessandro for representing CAPITAL and US fencing so brilliantly!

Sweet Success at Columbus NAC

CAPITAL graduate Marta Lasota and CAPITAL fencers Honor Johnson and Amit Hanadari-Levy were all business, and then all smiles at their results, at this month’s US Fencing Association’s North American Cup in Columbus, Ohio. With the support of her coach at Harvard, Peter Brand, and coached by Dariusz, Marta took 7th in the Junior event (ages 20 and under). Her clubmates Amit and Honor earned spots in the top 16 out of a field of nearly 150 fencers. Brava! Brava ladies!

Congratulations to CAPITAL's 2015-2016 Regional winning fencers! Each of these fencers placed as one of the top three sabre fencers for the Capitol Division. We are so proud of your achievement, hard work, and dedication!

Capital Fencers Recruited to Ivy League

Congratulations to Marta Lasota and Adam Green who will be leaving for Harvard University and University of Pennsylvania this fall! Thanks to their years of dedicated work and hard training, they not only have achieved fantastic results in our sport, but were each recruited to two of the best schools in America. 

Marta and Adam are great examples of what we can achieve with the right approach!

Great job and we'll miss you both!
